Brisbane
The Brisbane App is a mobile application created for Brisbane City Council, designed to serve both local residents and tourists. Available on iOS and Android, the app brings together places, local businesses, tourist attractions, events, precincts, and curated guides into a single, easy-to-navigate experience.
The goal of the app is to help users discover what Brisbane has to offer, plan activities, and engage more deeply with the city — whether they are visiting for the first time or exploring their own neighbourhood. A strong focus was placed on discoverability, local relevance, and social engagement to encourage repeat use and community participation.
My Role
I was initially brought in to support We Make Apps during the pitch phase of the project. At this stage, I contributed concept ideas to strengthen the tender, including the introduction of curated guides as a way to increase user engagement and provide richer, story-driven content. I also created initial pitch designs that were presented to Brisbane City Council as part of the proposal.
After the project was awarded, I took responsibility for wireframing the entire app and mapping out the full UX architecture. This included all aspects of user-generated content, such as claiming, creating, and managing places, as well as creating events and guides. To support social interaction and ongoing engagement, features like likes and followswere also designed into the experience.
Following the wireframing phase, I designed the high-fidelity, final UI designs for all screens, ensuring a cohesive visual language across the app and a clear, intuitive experience for both residents and visitors.
